A guide to the social media jungle

While browsing the bookstore tonight, I found a great little book about social media called, “The Social Media Marketing Book” by Dan Zarrella.

The beauty of this book is that it’s brief and you can quickly read the entire book over the weekend. Great for the newbie as it gives an overview of major social media sites and how to use them. Still a worth-while read for the intermediate user, as Zarrella  offers some tips on how to use certain types of social media more effectively, like his overview on Twitter Clients.

I loved that Zarrella used years to give you an idea on how quickly certain sites, like Twitter, have come into existence. Zarrella writes, ” Twitter started to take off in terms of popularity in the first half of 2009 as a result of high-profile celebrity members and a mention on Oprah..”

I am going to continue to read this over the weekend.
